Dhaam Dhoom Review

Dhaam Dhoom (DD) is much expected movie from Director Jeeva whom gave number of hits such as Unaale-Unaale. The story revolves a Doctor whom went to Moscow to attend for a conference and caught up with murder which he didn’t commit.True colors of Communism is shown clearly in this movie, brutal hitting and scurrying. The opening song/rap with Malaysian notch artiste Mr.G is fascinating. Lakshmi Rai’s acting is just wonderful and much improvement could be witnessed compared to her previous movie, her lawyer-criminal tacts with wittiness towards Jayam Ravi is amazing :-P . Her character seems to be scoped compared to Kangana Raut, Kangana somehow rather resembles Yesteryears actress HemaMalini.

After the death of Director Jeeva the storyline doesn’t seem to that impressive.Perhaps it could be different if he is still around. As usual there are many illogical scenes, such as riding the bike without holding the handle and day dreaming at same time , after being gunned - Ravi will still be able to medicate himself without removing the bullet from his chest :-P worst still he helped that Russian and women and entertained her although he is unaware of her identity. This movie is not depicted as a normal masala movie but rather seems to be thrilling and your mind anticipate too much on the next scene. So it is a big let down expecially the climax .

Irattai Kilavi - Sweetness of Tamil Language

Filed under: Personal, Movie Talkies, News

I just woke up from my sleep after swallowing 2 fever tablets. I’m feeling very uneasy with my fever since yesterday evening as it prevents me from doing my work as usual. With all the pain, feverish I drove back from JB to KL this morning..I had no choice as I need to appear in the office tommorow…not forgeting 3 meetings.

Ouchhh my body still aches horribly with pulsating headaches !
Leave all that aside, Today I need to write about " Irratai Kilavi" (IR), well it doesn’t mean Double Old lady !! The meaning totally differ…Iratai Kilavi is gramattical term widely used in tamil preferably for Poem or rhyme, One can refer to Tholkapium.Iratai killavi is nothing but repeated sounds - syllable without any meaning. If you could recall Kannodu Kanbathelam song from Jeans, the meaning is clearly described. " Sala -Sala irattai killavi , Taga-Taga Irattai Killavi undalo tamilil undalo , Pirithi vaithal Nyayam illai, Pirrithi paarthal porulum illai, Rendalo irandum ondralo" Most of ARR songs embedded IR widely,  which easily make one song hit, this is world renowned truth, well reasearched and analysed. But mind you this words is meaningless if it survive as single word, try breaking them..!! Example most of you would have watch Roja today " Chinna- Chinna -China asai ( double words) and everyone knows this song won many awards and we hymm till today…Ilayaraaja is one of them..Many people perhaps haven’t listened to Raaja Sir’s "Sanghathil paadatha" Song, it became hit very recently after almost 15 years, Thanks to Jaya TV for screening the Maestro’s live concert " Andrum Indrum Endrum". He performed beautiful Violin instrumentation for this song at ITALY.

"..Sindhi then senthoora ithalgalil , sindhi then paigindra uravvai, Konjum thaan Konjathaan.." Song from Auto Raja ( Sanghathil Paadatha Kavithai). "Sindhithen .. Sindhi Then"  have double meaning it could be either "Think/Recalling" or "Honey drops" same goes to " Konjumthan .. Konjathan" it could mean
"love passionately" or "a little" , Marvellous Song. Listen to this song completely, try to digest the lyrics..Awesome.Some history of me learning tamil, I never attend any tamil school to learn tamil , my tamil is soooo bad during school days. When I was in Primary school I didn’t utter any tamil words with my classmates, not only me well the whole class is like that !! Till now we don’t know the reason..It is my own initiative, starting is very painful as I have no one to help me, Thanks to Mr.Murugesu ( I took tamil class from him when Im 14years old) at school. In the mid year the POL (People’s Own language) class got scrapped off, we’re left without a tamil Sir since then. He was my backbone, He used to scold me if my pronounciation is wrong !! followed by The Late Mr.Uthuman Ghani Sir and Meenakshi Sabapathy who have instilled and be a role model in my life to read, learn and live tamil.

OK time to take my medicine now…

One of the song that I was hunting… Raaz

Last year, around June when I was driving back in a lonely lane from Cyberjaya I tuned in to THR.Raaga, it was saturday around 11:30pm, I was listening to this melodious hindi songs, i liked the tune very much. Gina (the DJ) was talking high & low about this song and even explained the meaning.. Eversince then I tried very hard looking around for this song but I couldn’t find, because I didn’t know the song title neither movie or even the singer. I even tried asking some of my punjabi friend..

Last Week, I tuned in again on Saturday evening to THR Raaga again..the same song. I was overjoyed, it was very beautiful romantic song. However when I searched youtube.com, this is what I get..Very Very hot ;P , Watch it for yourself.. Self explainatory.

Aapke Pyar Mein hum savarnelage

Well I’m also a person whom can shed tears listening to her songs.. Njoy

Navarasa The Movie

Last week I managed to watch another controversial Movie - Navarasa. Movie may not be the right word but it is sounds more like a documentary. It was directed by Santhosh Sivan, I feel both Santhosh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has same taste in directing a movie. One can never forget his "Black" which won few awards recently.

The story revolves third gender that manipulating in the world today. Part of the movie was shot at Villipuram during koovagam festivals. Shewatha a 13 years old girl attains adulthood and discovers her Uncle Gautham transform into women at night. Gautham changes to Gauthami and dresses himself with flowers, ornaments, and bindhi’s, it is like a women trapped in man’s body. Gautham’s ultimate decision is to marry Aravan during Koovagam festivals. This is unknown to Shweta’s father (Gautham’s brother) and he leaves to Coimbatore for a relative’s wedding, leaving Shwetha with Gautham believing she is in good hands of her uncle’s care. Before shwetha realise; Gautham(i) has left the house heading towards Villipuram. Shwetha’s next journey begins.. that is to hunt her uncle down to Villipuram with her intention is to bring Gautham back home before (s)he marries Aravan. During her journey she will meet Bobby Darling, I somehow loved her character, she is very jovial, makes fun and dances crazily. If you have remembered Taal, Bobby Darling was Aishu’s make-up artist. She belong’s to third gender and reveals the actual life history of herself in this movie. Her acting and her english mix hindi was really good. There is no make-over, all the Aravani’s in this movie are Real -Ones !!! Some of them daringly share their life story, challenges they faced, the taunting from publics, vulgar name calling and their pivotal experiences. Koovagam is a festival of where Lord Krishna transform’s himself into Mohini (female) and marries Arjuna’s son Aravan before he is killed . This depicts the ancient story trace back 5000 years ago in Mahabharatha.

Along the way Shwetha witnesses the whole lot of new culture in the Third gender’s world. Will she succeed to bring back her uncle Gautham before her parent’s return ?? Will her parent discover the trueself of Gautham, Will they accept him ? How will Bobby Darling help Shwetha ?? Watch this movie till the end for Climax.

When I was young, I have seen Third Gender and used to stare at them or wonder why they need to transform themselves, but as I grow, our thinking widen’s and we tend to understand them and their feelings. I have friends whom transform themselves at nights. I respect them for what they are and never intrude in their personal life. Soon I came to understand that they are also like one of us, they have feeling too, they feel hurt too when people call them by name. If you loopback, they never harmed anyone, So far I have never read anything bad about them. Some of them are very famous today but hiding in their cloth. A good example is Bobby Darling herself, she had toured the whole Europe and slept at Platforms when she was young. I know a lady in Singapore ( I watch a interview from vasantham Central) whom transformed completely into women, undergone operation and married to a Irish Man. According to her they are leading happy life so does many of them.

You may start to think why my statements sounds very supportive towards this matter, well it is not only me but the whole world today have started accepting them, although some say it is against religions & Culture. But as a parent’s , I could understand how heartbreaking news it could be for them, things are easier said than done, Indigestible truth and it ends up with unjustified arguments and comitting ourselves to un-argumentive jurisdiction.

The movie overall is an awareness to our community . Bravo to Santhosh Sivan ; Double Thumbs -up ! emoticonemoticon

Evano Oruvan

On Monday night, I manage to catch Evano Oruvan . Madhavan -a lover boy turned into public observer, fighting for his rights in each and everyway. He plays another Ambhi character in this movie. The story starts of with Vasu a middleclass man, whom’s life is controlled by the mechanical ticks.. Clock. He plays a character of virtued, principled and fights against those goondah’s whom try to ploy the weakones. His Wife Sangheeta, who always rants and nag at him to improve their current lifestyle, is always ignored by Vasu. She is suffers doing all the house chores alone without any technology helps.

He vets everything by rules and principle, You would be surprised to see that he fights and whack down the Cola stall for charging extra 2rupee. He stabs MLA for building swimming pools while the people in Brahmana colony are struggling to catch water from the Tanker Lorry every morning and hold the doctor at gun point for not admitting a sickly old patient.

The climax was very heart wretching, he yearns to see his wife and Varsha his fav daughter, he wants to return to his self and lead happy life again with his family without realising the Police are after his blood. The IG has given Inspector Vetrimaran to kill him on encounter. Will he be killed or united with his wife and daughter ? Watch the movie.

In our day to day life, we don’t question back for a mere 10cent increase for teh-tarik or roti canai , we ignore it by thinking..ahhh it is just 10cent, I can still afford it so no point in arguing. But often we forgot that we are exploited, used up, squeezed out and drained out. This causes inflation, I still remember when I was in Standard 1 - the nasi lemak cost only RM0.20cents with half sliced egg, cucumber, sambal and wrapped in banana leaf. But now the same nasi lemak, with half sliced cucumber, few groundnuts , quarter egg and few drops of sambal wrapped in a paper cost me about RM1.00 !!!!

The moment One person stand up and questions, their mouth are shut, the newspaper feeds and headline with massaged stories  just to popularize the sales. We’re seeing this today and witnessing what is happening. I could relate the same with the movie, the price you pay for voicing and standing up for your own right ! SIGH…

Anyway Double Thumbs up for Evano Oruvan.emoticon

Sathampodathey - Movie review

After such a long time I had a relief of watching some good film’s, it is none other than Sathampodathey (Keep Quiet). Thanks to Director Vasanth for producing such a thriller, mind-boggling, nail biting and tensed up movie, It keeps me guessing what will happen next sequence and so on..First of all it is not a love story, not some goonda’s fighting movie .. I would say it is a family story flick! Story revolves Bhanu ( Padma Priya - Mallu damsel, her acting in TT from Cheran was not bad) married to a impotent husband (Nitin) whom cheated her through his nose on his medical condition. He started abusing her just after she started working in a school, Nitin also disagreed on child adopting, as he felt that the baby gives message to him that he can’t reproduce. Bhanu drivorced divorced him. Nitin promised that he will seek revenge on her. She moved in to stay with her Brother. Due to abusing and whacking her hand trembles badly and has phobic nights. She met Ravi (Prithviraj) whom as usual out on his wits with his smart and captivating looks. He is trying to woo Bhanu to seek her hands for marriage, he impersonated himself as Chandran & Ravi.. the tweaks to make her agree’s for the marriage. He did many things to win her heart..Finally they got married.

But the climax starts only after their marriage, Ravi and Bhanu went to Cochin for honeymoon + Ravi’s business work. The twist starts here when Nitin and Ravi meet each other in a hotel. Nitin kidnaps Bhanu and torchured her while Ravi beliefs that his beloved wife is dead..What happen next ???? Watch the movie , excellent thriller story. Bhanu’s character suited her very well and she has done a excellent performance.

If you are frequent reader in my blog, you will find that I write my own review on few selected movies, which means the storyline are very different from the rest and it is worth watching. My bf beliefs that If I recommends a movie to him, he will never feel cheated and it will be a real good movie. emoticon

So double thumbs up for Vasanth and Sathampodathey.emoticonemoticon

Vaathiyar & Captain’s movie

Last weekend, Astro screened 2 tamil movies, Vaathiyar and Perarasu. Movie line was OK but somehow I was irritated with the heroine’s in both movies. They are "characterless" and "roleless". The movie focus was on the hero, the heroine only appears for song sequence..

If you see.. their role is to do few things like, collecting the neighbourhood kids and doing all the "attagasam" like playing truant on the hero, trying to get closer to the hero with their somehwat stupidity mania, dreaming of the hero & confessing their love either to the kids or some old grandma which will in turn be a messenger.. The most funniest thing is when the heroine try to get closer to the hero, the hero never bother’s to talk or see.. but she will try to get closer and closer.. The Hero will say " Im not here to love, You don;t know who am I, Im here with a vision, I cannot get inlove because I don;t know what my future behold, I need to save the society scrap" .. trust me this is the most repeated dialogues in most of the movies nowdays. Climax, the heroine will be crying (god knows why) seeing this the hero will run after her, hold her and walk away with her.. the movie ends maybe with some song duet.. Now having a heroine in action packed movie could be wasteful if the resources are not being utilised diligently. There are some good movies where hero and the heroine are given equal role to show their talent, remember watching "Thirumathi Palanisamy" , "Mozhi" and a action pack movie acted by Vijayashanti and few others. Well Im not condemning but hehehe infact I amemoticon

Kuppi The Cyanide

I started reading reviews on this movie called Kuppi (Cyanide) it was a action packed movie, the story line depicts police officer’s nailing down the killer’s /masterminds involved in assasinating Rajiv Ghandi - Human Bomb. Subha and Siva is the most wanted in the CBI list , they flew to Bangalore and used his henchmen to conqueor some houses for them to hideout, this is where they met Ranganath and his wife. So the story line goes on… Kuppi is a chain tied around their neck, which has a locket in a form of cylinder which contains the cyanide. If they are caught by police, they will bite the cylinder and dies off. Cyanide is a powerful poisonous chemical which causes fatal. Thus their secrets movements will never be leaked out or known by police. The story is all about LTTE movements. Good story line, once in a while it is worthwhile to watch real incident story without unnecessary draggy and drama’s.

Tamil 90’s Movie -

This was the era where the Kanths and Hassan made a plunge of huge money in cinema industry..I had the sudden interest to watch Tamil 80’s movie, last week after work , i watched Aruvadai Naal untill wee hours.. Good movie, felt very nostalgic, it was about typical Chirst-Hindu love story but was taken very differently. The villain is just a scumbag and Prabhu acted very childishly. Anyway the ending was not something that i loved to watch. There is one song "Devanin Koil" , was kinda meaningful. Listen to the lyrics carefully.

Next I watched Keladi Kanmani, but this movie is based on Mother’s love, Anu disapproved her dad’s second marriage after demiss of her mother ( She was a kid then)  but when she grows up she was diagnosed with renal failure and has few months to live..typical tamil story. So she orders her bf Ramesh Aravind to look for her dad’s sweetheart, she wants them to rekindle the long lost relationship. The movie also depicted true love for mother, where Anu will save her mom’s breathe in a tube pillow. Something that is alive and moving from her mom.. very touching. Listen to this tune "Karpoora Mullai" & "Mannil Intha" where SPB sings without breathing. Good sentimental hits with Lalitha raagam !! Initially i thought it was lovey-dovey based, very draggy and bored… but it started add spices after she was diagnosed with sickness. ..Good watch !!

Trickster, a male casanova , womenizer, cheater ..the list will go on, well this is character of Mr.Annamalai the hero of the stories. The movie comprises of 5 girls Sneha,Namitha,Malavika, Jyothirmayee & Keerthi somehow got entangled with the mob whom cheat them with all his wits. Letchumy as judge added some spice to the story line. The best one was when he put a act as Lord Krishna’s disciple. :) and the girl believes he is really one of HIS Avathar !!. Gotcha … He swindles and masquerade from $$ to jewels. Watch till the end, Im not sure whether this movie is a remake of Yesteryears Movie which starred by Gemini Ganesan.. No..no..no…Naan Avan Illai
