Spectacular performance @ Istana Budaya
My weekend was really booked for many functions and outings with my family and collegues. The most remarkable one was attending a great word-could- never-express performance at Istana Budaya - Sivagamiyin Sabatham (SS). The story is about long love-lorn between 2 kingdoms , Pallava and Vathapi. Sivagami is beautiful, mystical, passionate and profound in the art of dancing, and undivided in love for her Prince Narasimhavarman. However her love is not blessed by the King. War and many other incidents separates her from her lover, and in the end, she surrenders herself to the ‘Lord of Dance’. This Bharathanatyam based musical dance drama will be performed by 50 talented students who have undergone training with Tanjai Kamala Indira Dance School, established in 1966. The performance is in aid of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation. (Source from Kakiseni.com). I enjoyed to the extreme, I have never witnessed any liveshows before so this was a remarkable ones. The show was started by thanksgiving to Lord Vinayaga -Maha Ganapathiyin and followed by the mystical dance by Nattuva Thilagam - Mrs.Indira Manikam daughter Ms.Shamini. Their dance performance was superb. I was amazed with the whole show, the setup, the background, songs (by Sevvisai sittar Re.Shanmugham), artist that took part was diligently arranged. Not to mention the participation of TKI students -my cousin sister Patmni was given roles in the drama, this would be a good start for to achieve higher in her Bharathanatyam.
